The concept for this renovation project was guided by the client's desire to maintain the integrity of the existing 1908 historic building, while introducing a contemporary style to suit their downtown location. Their need for a flexible space allowing for growth and adherence to a fixed budget were also top priorities.

Rows of existing concrete columns draw one through the space entering the open lobby, past the teller's counters, and finally to the offices located in the rear of the building. This rhythmic pattern is repeated within the ceiling and door panels. Warmth and light were introduced through the use of natural materials. Light and dark woods contrast the existing brick and concrete shell, while a metal acoustical ceiling system absorbs sound and adds to the modern aesthetic. To preserve the history of the space, steel doors found on-site were re-used at secured areas of the bank including ATM access, the vault and the safety deposit room.
